Our annual FLL Summer Camps introduce young students to the world of robotics while raising essential funds for our upcoming competitive season. We run intensive five-day camps featuring four-hour daily sessions tailored for both beginner and advanced skill levels. As FIRST students, we believe that programs like this are highly beneficial for learning both teamwork and technical skills. Through these camps, we seek to share our passion for STEM, increase early exposure to robotics, and inspire the next generation of innovators in our local community.
To ensure an efficient and high-impact experience, our mentors design, test, and refine a custom camp curriculum covering the engineering process, robot design, attachment mechanisms, block coding, game strategy, and core values. We lead coordination meetings with our mentors to finalize the content, organize the speaking schedule, and delegate specific teaching tasks. During the camp week, we teach lectures, answer questions, and guide students through hands-on challenges, ending with a FLL tournament at the end of the week. We maintain a strict 2:1 mentor-to-student ratio to guarantee individual attention, and we hold nightly debriefs to review student progress and coordinate personalized support.
Our summer camp programs have established a strong track record of community impact and student engagement:
Taught over 150 students across summer camps spanning the last seven years.
Engaged 25 students in our most recent intensive summer camp sessions.
Raised $10,000+ to fund local community robotics initiatives and team operations.
Many of our summer camp participants develop a long-term passion for robotics and later join the permanent FLL teams we form through Unity Robotics.
